Physical Education

We are fortunate to be situated right next to Bushey Hall Leisure Centre, which offers state-of-the-art facilities, which we use for our P.E. lessons.

All children from years 1 -6 learn to swim. Attenborough swim every week during the Autumn term, Old Park in the Spring term and then Hartspring children in the summer term. Lessons are taken by specialist teachers provided by the leisure centre, and our own staff accompany the groups too.

We also use specialist gymnastics and dance instructors from the leisure centre. Each class has a 50 minute lesson each week, with instruction alternating each half term between gym and dance. During gym lessons, the children work towards awards (with badges and certificates). At the end of each group of dance lessons, there is a short presentation, to which parents are invited.

Games lessons for Hartspring, Attenborough and Old Park children are taught by Ms Taylor on the Bushey Hall Leisure Centre astroturf. According to the time of year, lessons vary between rugby, football, netball, hockey, cricket and rounders. Lessons focus on fitness and the skills necessary for each sport. The emphasis is on personal improvement and FUN!
